Between the Lines 2025 is taking place from 22 to 25 May with an eclectic mix of authors speaking in some fantastic small venues across Central Hawke's Bay.

Young Writers' Workshop
This free workshop offers a fantastic opportunity for young creative writers nominated by 15 primary schools across CHB. Designed to inspire and nurture a love of writing, the workshop provides a day full of creativity, helping participants develop their storytelling skills and spark a lifelong passion for writing. The workshop will be led by Lou Ward, local author and owner of the beloved Wardini Books. This event is generously sponsored by a grant from the Creative Communities Fund.

Paddy Gower needs no introduction - celebrated journalist, former political editor, TV presenter, radio broadcaster, and documentary maker. Now, he’s added author to the list with his biography, This Is The F#$%ing News: My Story. In a major coup for CHB, Paddy will sit down with award-winning journalist Alexa Cook for an unfiltered, entertaining, and insightful discussion. Songbirds of Florence
Treat yourself to an afternoon of literature and lively conversation over a glass of wine in the stunning surrounds of a beautifully restored Ormondville homestead. Bestselling author Olivia Spooner, known for her rich historical and contemporary fiction, will share the inspirations behind her work - including her latest novel, The Songbirds of Florence. In an engaging conversation with local author Anna Mackenzie, Olivia will offer insights into her writing and the stories that shape her novels. A must-attend event for book lovers!
